To ensure the implementation of projects and promote the development of sustainable tourism, CANAECO has established different strategic alliances with public and private institutions, as well as with non-governmental organizations.

Additionally, CANAECO is part of different commissions that contribute to areas related to the topics, policies, and relevant strategic matters for the tourism sector. It has also backed different initiatives that promote the consolidation of sustainable development.

Commissions

National Accreditation Commission (NAC)

This is the body that promotes the Sustainable Tourism Certification (STC) program. It is made up of different sectors including the private sector, academia, international bodies, and the public sector. The commission is in charge of granting the levels of the STC to participating companies.

Technical Forum for Tourism

This is a space through which the area chambers of tourism of Costa Rica may meet in order to discuss topics of national and international interest regarding the tourism industry. It is also to generate alliances and coordinate action for joint projects.

Consulting Committee for the Climate Change in Tourism Adaptation Project

This is the committee in charge of supporting the project, led by the German Cooperation Agency GIZ, whose objective is to raise awareness and strengthen the capacity for adaptation to climate change in the private sector, including a financial component.

Consulting Committee for the Triangular Cooperation Project for Sustainable Tourism

This is the committee that works together on a project from the German Cooperation Agency GIZ; it aims to transfer knowledge, best practices, and instruments for sustainable tourism between the countries involved (Germany, Costa Rica, and Tunisia).
